How to enable location on photos?
To validate summit photos, Bike Summit needs GPS metadata embedded in the image file.
On iPhone:
- Open Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services.
- Turn Location Services on.
- Tap Camera and choose While Using the App.
- Take a new photo with the Camera app and try again.
On Android:
- Open Settings -> Location and make sure Location is on.
- Open Settings -> Apps -> Camera -> Permissions.
- Allow the Location permission for the Camera app.
- Open the Camera app settings and enable location tags if available.
- Take a new photo with the Camera app and try again.
Why a photo may still have no GPS metadata
Even if the Camera setting is correct, a photo may still not have GPS metadata because:
- it was received via WhatsApp, Messenger, etc. (many apps strip metadata),
- it was edited or exported,
- it was taken with another device,
- location was not available when it was taken.
